Motion 3D

Animate IFC and GLB models into 4D build-sequence videos

Design & MediaDesktop onlyBeta

Motion 3D loads a multipart glTF/GLB or native IFC model, lets you key parts and the camera on a timeline, and renders an MP4 in the browser. One-click presets reveal a building storey by storey or by element type, saved selections double as construction phases, a cutting plane exports filled sections as SVG, and a two-way bridge turns the element tree into a work-breakdown structure in the Tasks app and plays the dated schedule back on the model.

Who it is for: Engineers and designers who need a quick 4D construction-sequence or product explode animation from an IFC or GLB model.

Quick answers

Where do I find Motion 3D? It is not in the Hub menu.

Open it from the 3D button in the Motion editor, from Open in Motion 3D in Arch3d, or from send to 3D in the Tasks app. With nothing handed over it loads a sample building.

Can I animate a model stored in my project?

Not directly. Download the GLB or IFC to your device and pick it with the Model picker, or open it in Arch3d and use Open in Motion 3D. Motion 3D does not read or write the project workspace.

Is my animation saved?

Only named phases and the grouping are kept in the browser, per model. Keyframes and the loaded model are lost on reload, so export the MP4 or task JSON before closing.

Why can't I export?

Export needs at least one camera or part key and a browser with WebCodecs (VideoEncoder). Click Turntable or a Sequence preset first.

How does the schedule from the Tasks app reach the model?

Tasks are bound to elements by IfcGlobalId, then expressID, then node name. The schedule is held until the matching model is loaded; unmatched tasks can be mapped manually in the Task-Definition modal.
