Frequently Asked Questions

TektStudio (sold under the Tekton AI brand) is a suite of 22 web apps that share one project workspace. It covers documents with live calculations (DocMan, Composer), dashboards and diagrams, image, video and speech generation (Studio, SyncCut, Animate, Motion), stylus drawing (Freehand), 3D architectural and civil modelling (ARCH3D), surveying and site registers (Project Atlas), AI pipelines (Flow, Artifacts, Kanban, Tabs) and planning (Tasks). Every app opens from the Hub, works inside the project you pick there, and keeps its files in sync across your devices.

Engineers, architects, researchers and creators who want their reports, drawings, models, media and plans in one place with AI help in each. It was built by a practising engineer for real projects, so the engineering apps use real conventions: ΕΓΣΑ87 coordinates, IFC2x3 export, ArchiCAD and DXF exchange, cut-and-fill volumes, calculation sheets.

Many apps, one platform. Each app is a focused tool, but they share the project picker, the file workspace and sync engine, the AI backend selector and key vault, a common block language for calculations and charts, and one-click hand-offs (for example Studio → SyncCut, Composer → DocMan, Freehand → any chat, ARCH3D → Motion 3D → Tasks).

Register, open the Hub, create or link a project, then open an app from the top bar. The Hub manual in the wiki explains projects, previews and sync; the Settings manual explains AI keys and backends.

Yes, and the manuals say so. The Hub, DocMan, Dashboard, Diagrams and Freehand are stable. Most media, engineering and workflow apps are in active development with known gaps listed in each manual's "Limitations" section. Tabs and the Marketplace are previews. The app cards on the landing page carry a Preview badge where that applies.

Yes. The license is perpetual and includes updates. Using your own API keys or local AI costs nothing extra, ever. The only recurring charge is the optional token subscription, and you can skip it entirely.

Your projects and files are kept. To keep using the apps, buy the license from the pricing page (you are redirected to Stripe Checkout). Nothing is deleted when a trial expires.

A token is roughly three-quarters of a word of model input or output. Tokens are consumed only when an app calls a platform-hosted model. Calls through your own keys (BYOK) or local backends never touch your balance. Monthly subscription tokens are spent first and expire at the end of the cycle; top-up tokens are spent next and never expire.

No. It is a convenience for people who do not want to manage API keys or local tools. If you add an Anthropic, OpenAI or Google key in Settings, or run Ollama, Claude Code CLI, Gemini CLI, Forge or ComfyUI through TektBridge, you have unlimited AI at the provider's or your hardware's cost.

Payments go through Stripe Checkout (major credit and debit cards). Prices are in USD. Refund rules for the license, the token subscription and top-ups are in the Refund Policy; the subscription can be cancelled anytime from Settings → Billing or the Stripe customer portal.

A paid, optional consulting service: we spec your machine, install ComfyUI, Forge, Ollama and local text-to-speech, connect them to TektStudio through TektBridge and walk you through it. It starts from €299 one-time and is unrelated to the software license.

A folder of files that every app works inside: documents, dashboards, drawings, generated images and video, models, flows and task lists. You pick the active project in the Hub and every other app inherits it. A project can live in the cloud only, or be linked to a folder on your computer or to app storage on your phone.

By design the Hub is the only project picker, so you can never save a drawing into the wrong job by accident. Other apps show the active project read-only and link back to the Hub. Flow and Kanban keep their own pickers because flows and job boards are often reused across projects; Marketplace and Atlas are workspace-wide.

Each device keeps a manifest of the project. The Hub shows a coloured dot per file: white is in sync, blue has local changes to push, yellow has a newer version elsewhere, grey is not downloaded here, orange is waiting for an offline device, red is a conflict. You push or pull per file, or use Sync all. Conflicts offer take theirs / push mine / keep both. Trusted devices can also browse each other's folders directly over peer-to-peer, and other devices get a notice when a file changes.

In the cloud project workspace, and, when you link a folder, on your own disk as ordinary files you can open with any other program. Apps also keep small hidden state files in the project (for example .docman-state.json, .dashboard-state.json) so your working state follows you. Deleting a project removes the cloud copy; files in a linked folder stay on disk.

Your first device is trusted automatically. New devices start as temporal (cloud-only, 24 hours) until you promote them in Settings → Devices. Trusted devices can keep local copies, run the agent, be browsed over peer-to-peer, and lend their GPU or CLIs to your other devices.

Yes. DocMan and Dashboard can publish a live page at /published/<slug> with embed code, and DocMan exports standalone HTML that stays interactive when it has fillable fields. You can also export DOCX, LaTeX PDF, SVG, MP4 and other formats depending on the app.

Three sources, chosen per app in Settings → AI Backends:

• Platform — hosted Claude, GPT and Gemini models billed in tokens.
• Your own keys (BYOK) — Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Mistral, Groq, plus media providers such as Stability, Replicate, LTX, Runway, ElevenLabs, Meshy and Tripo, stored in an encrypted vault.
• Local — Ollama or LM Studio on your machine, the Claude Code, Codex and Gemini CLIs, and Forge or ComfyUI for images, all reached through TektBridge.

You can also curate which models each app offers and set generation parameters.

No. Keys are encrypted in your browser (PBKDF2 key derivation, AES-256-GCM) with a vault password you choose before anything is uploaded. The server stores only ciphertext. The vault auto-locks after 30 minutes and you can export and import an encrypted backup. There is no password reset: if you forget the vault password, import a backup or start a new vault.

Only what you send in a chat or generation request, and only to the backend you selected. With a local backend nothing leaves your machine. With your own key the request goes to that provider under your account and their terms. With platform tokens it goes through our server to the provider. Files in your project are not read by any model unless you attach them or ask the Hub agent to.

When asked, it can list, read, write and delete files in the active project, list your projects and devices, check sync status and search the web. It keeps a per-project discussion history, can generate images, and the Interrogator extracts facts from your files into a structured case file. Writes go to your linked folder when present and sync to your other devices.

The health check to the selected backend failed. Pick another backend in the app's selector, check the key in your vault (and unlock it), or start TektBridge if you chose a local or remote-device backend. Local CLI backends appear only while TektBridge reports them as installed.

A small desktop companion (Windows) that lets the web apps talk to software on your computer: Stable Diffusion Forge and ComfyUI for images, Ollama and LM Studio for local models, the Claude Code, Codex and Gemini command-line tools, a local text-to-speech server, and your linked project folders for CLI agents. Download it from Settings → Local Tools. It is included with the trial and the license.

Only for local image generation (Forge, ComfyUI) and local models. Everything else runs in the browser or on cloud providers. You can also install TektBridge on one machine with a GPU and generate from your other devices, including your phone, over the peer-to-peer relay.

Both devices must be trusted and signed in as you. In Studio's compute bar (or an app's backend selector) pick the remote device; requests to Forge, ComfyUI or the CLIs are relayed over an encrypted WebRTC connection to the TektBridge on that machine. See the remote backends page.

They are enabled only while TektBridge is running and detects the CLI. Start TektBridge, click Scan Now in Settings → Local Tools, then reload the AI Backends tab.

Yes. Define it in a vars block or a placeholder, then use {= name =} in text, SCOPE.name in chart code and P("name", default) in SVG or calculation blocks. Everything recomputes together. Preprint paginates the result for A4/A5 PDF, and Download .pdf typesets through LaTeX on the server. DocMan is a Markdown source editor with editable preview cards; there is no separate WYSIWYG mode.

Set a name and click → DocMan. A Markdown file with one heading per node and the attached blocks is written to the project and opens in DocMan; the same file imports back into Composer. Note that Composer does not autosave: click Save before leaving.

Print Posters opens one page per sheet in the browser print dialog (charts print as their source text). For a graphical version use Publish, which creates a self-contained web page at /published/<slug> with embed code. Dashboards auto-save into the project as .dashboard-state.json.

Mermaid for flowcharts, sequence, state, class, ER and Gantt diagrams; Vega-Lite or Plotly for data charts; Function Plot for maths. Only Vega-Lite charts have a built-in PNG/SVG export menu; for other engines paste the code into a DocMan document and export from there. The same fenced code renders in DocMan and Dashboard.

Every result auto-saves to generations/ in the project and syncs. A GPU is needed only for Forge and ComfyUI; cloud image models (Gemini, GPT Image), video models (Veo, LTX, Sora) and BYOK speech run on provider APIs. Starred models in the dropdowns are the ones you curated in Settings → AI Models and run on your vault keys.

The server renderer only reads media stored on the server (AI generations, speech, Studio outputs). Files imported from your device are skipped in the final render. Output is always 1920×1080; vertical clips are letterboxed.

Yes: pen input takes priority over touch (palm rejection), pressure drives width, the barrel button opens the tool dial and the eraser end erases; two fingers pan, zoom and rotate. Drawings autosave as drawings/drawing.fhd with an .svg twin in the project. From any chat, click the pen button to sketch in Freehand and get the sketch back as an attachment.

Animate writes a motion-graphics scene from a prompt (an AI coding agent produces the code). Motion is a no-code keyframe animator for SVG, HTML, Freehand sketches and DocMan documents. Motion 3D animates IFC and GLB models into build sequences. All three export MP4 in the browser and send to SyncCut. Animate and Motion open as tabs inside Studio; none of the three saves its timeline to the project yet, so export before leaving.

Models export to IFC2x3 with typed elements, spaces, coverings and assemblies, to GLB, glTF, OBJ and STL for Blender and viewers, and to SAF spreadsheets from the structural mode; drawings plot as A3 PNG sheets (there is no DXF export yet). An open model can be sent to Motion 3D for 4D sequencing. The terrain tool imports CSV points, GeoJSON or Shapefile breaklines, or a surface sent from Project Atlas; you place the site datum for absolute levels, model pads, pits, corridors and roads with cut-and-fill volumes, and run slope, hillshade, solar, flood and viewshed analysis and survey comparison. A path-traced Render mode is built in; the physics walkthrough, vehicles and fire simulation are experimental and need a capable GPU. The manual lists every limitation.

The public DEM is about 30 m resolution and marked indicative; the surface is survey-grade only where your own spot levels are, and the DEM is shifted onto your datum around them. Atlas is workspace-wide: it shows every station, and each can be linked to a Hub project folder. Exports include ArchiCAD Project Info XML, DXF R12 with terrain faces and ΕΓΣΑ87 point lists.

Not from Flow itself, because runs execute in the browser tab. Save the flow as a Workflow and create a Kanban task of type Run Flow Workflow; the server scheduler runs it and links back to the results. Flows, templates and run records are JSON files in the project, so they sync.

It runs in a sandboxed frame with no access to your session, cookies or files; its only link to the suite is a small message bridge. It can still reach the network, so read code that handles sensitive data before running it.

Only for the default project's board, which the server scheduler watches. Other boards run scheduled cards while a Kanban tab is open. Results are saved into the project only when you click Save to Workspace or tick Auto-save when creating the card.

No. Each tab is a self-contained conversation with one generator preset (chat, image, video, document, speech or a custom endpoint). Tabs is a preview: the per-app backend selector is ignored there and Save to Workspace is not wired yet; download results and add them through the Hub.

Tasks is a planning tool: one hierarchical task list per project shown as a tree, Kanban, calendar, Gantt, network or site map, mind map and statistics, with ToDoList .tdl import/export and a work-breakdown round-trip with Motion 3D. Kanban is a job board for AI generation tasks that move through Pending, Processing, Review and Done on their own.

Not yet. The Marketplace is a preview: you can browse and preview the built-in catalogue of charts, diagrams, construction-document templates and media, but publishing has no front end and Send to Workspace does not yet land in the cloud project the Hub reads.

Yes. It is an installable web app: in the Hub tap Install (or your browser's Add to Home Screen) and it opens full-screen with shortcuts to the main apps. The Hub, Dashboard, Studio, Freehand and Marketplace are fully usable on a phone; DocMan, Composer, Diagrams, Flow and the engineering apps work but are best on a tablet or desktop; Motion and Motion 3D need a mouse.

App storage. Android can invalidate a visible folder handle mid-sync and iOS Safari has no folder picker. Files in app storage are previewed and exported from the Hub like any other.

Partly. Open apps keep working on files already loaded, and local backends through TektBridge do not need the internet. Sync, platform AI and some libraries loaded from public CDNs need a connection. Files you change offline show a blue "to push" dot in the Hub, and you push them once you are back online.

Click Login, then Create account: name, email and password. Verify your email from the message we send. Your 30-day trial starts immediately with every app enabled.

Today it is a personal, multi-device workspace: one account, all your devices, all your projects. Sharing with others happens through published pages and exported files. There is no team workspace, role management or single sign-on yet.

The service runs on Google Cloud with project files in Cloudflare R2 object storage. All traffic is encrypted in transit. API keys are encrypted in your browser before upload. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see card numbers. Details and your rights (export, deletion) are in the Privacy Policy.

Delete individual projects from the Hub at any time (your linked local folders are never touched). To delete your account and all remaining data, email support@tektonai.com from your account address.

Current Chrome and Edge give the full experience, including linked local folders and WebCodecs video export. Firefox and Safari should work for most apps but are tested less; Safari has no folder picker (use app storage) and some in-browser video exports fall back to WebM or are unavailable.

Yes. The same REST and streaming endpoints the apps use are available to any signed-in account; calls that use platform AI consume tokens, calls through your own keys or local backends do not. See the API reference.

The server is a Node.js application with a Docker image and a deployment guide, and the Admin panel exists for operators. Self-hosting is not a self-service product today; contact sales@tektonai.com if you need an on-premise installation.
